Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Jin-Sohl Jindo Dog Rescue. Our aim is to help great dogs and great homes find each other. Please read through the following information:

What
is included with adoption?
Our goal is always to not just place dogs in homes, but to match the right dog with the right home. For this reason we have a fairly simple adoption process.
1. Learn about the breed -The first step in adopting a Jindo is to find out if it is the breed for you. While Jindos are wonderful dogs, they are not the right dog for every person or family. Please read the Jindo information section, especially the Do I really want a Jindo? article, and feel free to contact one of our representatives at adopt@jindo-dog-rescue.org with any questions. You are also encouraged to join the Korean Jindo List.
2. Application - Once you have determined that a Jindo is the dog for you then you are encouraged to fill out an application. If you see a dog on our available page which you are interested in, please indicate so on your application. You are welcome to fill out an application even if we do not have a dog who meets your exact needs. Often we know of other available Jindos, and we will be happy to keep an eye out and let you know if we come across a dog who fits your requests.
Please fill out the form located here:
http://www.jindo-dog-rescue.org/adoptform.html
or email if you would a form faxed/mailed to you:
3. Home visit - If it looks like you might be a good match with one or more of the Jindos in foster care then a home visit will be done by a JJDR volunteer. Jindos are very athletic dogs and the main purpose of this visit is to check and see that your home and yard are secure enough to contain a Jindo. Often our experienced volunteers are able to spot potential problems, which can then be fixed before bringing a dog home.
4. Meet and greet - Once an adoption and home check have been completed, an appointment will be set up for you to come meet the dog(s) in foster care which you are interested in. We will expect that potential adopters be willing to visit the dog in its foster home (wherever that may be) however, if for some reason another location is convenient for all involved, then other arrangements can be made. All family members should plan on participating, including any other dogs in the household.
5. 48 hour consideration period – If after meeting a foster dog you decide you would like to adopt, we ask that you wait a minimum of 48 hours before completing the adoption process. This gives you some time to consider your decision. Remember, this dog is going to be a part of your life for up to 15 years...it makes sense to take a little time and give it some thought.
6.
Adoption contract and adoption donation - In order for the adoption
to become official you will be required to complete and sign an adoption
contract. The adoption donation for all dogs adopted through
JJDR is $150, of which $50 will be refunded if you and the dog complete
a basic obedience course within 3 months of the adoption.
The adoption policies for Jin-Sohl Jindo Dog Rescue are listed below.
ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee is $150. $50 of this fee will be refunded if JJDR is provided with proof that an obedience class has been completed within 3 months of the adoption.
SCREENING: All potential adopters will be screened through an application, interview, and home visit process.
HOME VISITS: All local adoptive homes will be visited to ensure that all basic requirements are met to provide shelter, water, food and security adequate for a Jindo. Homes that are not located within Southern California or out of state will have a home check done if an evaluator can be found. If a potential home has great potential but a home evaluator can not be found, the adoptive home will be required to send pictures and/or a video along with a signed letter stating that the basic requirements have been met.
OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: It is highly preferable that out of state adopters come to California to meet their potential new family member before committing to an adoption. “Sight unseen” adoptions will be done at JJDR’s discression. Dogs that are adopted out of state will be shipped at the adopter's expense to include the cost of the following:
CONTRACT
COMPLIANCE: Adopters will be expected to comply with all requirements of
the Adoption Contract. Non-compliance with the contract could result in
repossession of the Jindo by JJDR.
STERLILIZATION: All dogs will be spay/neutered prior to adoption.
RETURN OF DOGS TO RESCUE: Jindos that are adopted and do not work out will be returned to JJDR. If the dog is returned within 14 days of the adoption, a refund equal to the adoption fee will be given. After 14 days, no refunds will be given.
APPLICATION APPROVAL: Jin-Sohl Jindo Dog Rescue reserves the right to approve or reject any and all applications based on what is in the best interest of the rescued Jindo dogs.
ADOPTIVE HOME REQUIREMENTS: All homes considered acceptable for placement of a Jindo must be evaluated as being willing to and capable of providing a dog with adequate quality food, water, medical care, exercise, socialization, and confinement. Dogs will not be place into homes where they will be allowed to roam free (intentionally or due to lack of proper fencing). Jindos will also not be placed into homes where they will be outdoor only dogs.
