Iri is a male Jindo Dog being
fostered by Jin-Sohl Jindo Dog Rescue, which is located in Southern California.
He is currently 2 years old, and is on the small side for a Male Jindo.
He is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and housetrained.
Originally picked as a stray
by a Southern California shelter, Iri’s owners never showed up to claim
him. When time ran out he was taken into foster care.
Iri is a joyful happy dog
with a real sense of humor and a happy-go-lucky personality.
Though a handful as a pup,
with patience and consistency in his foster home Iri has toned down this
excitability considerably. He has developed into a dog that is very
gentle with his mouth, is leash trained, crate trained, knows basic commands
like sit and down, and is very thoughtful about his surroundings.
Iri will always be a high energy dog, but he is very attentive, eager to
please, and very easy to train.
Iri’s ideal owner will need
to be dedicated to establishing rules, ongoing reinforcement of his manners,
as well as providing proper socialization and training. Attendance at a
training class will be required as a condition of his adoption.
Iri would thrive in an active
home where he gets to participate in many physical activities. He would
be a wonderful choice for an individual or family interested in any of
the dog sports, particularly Agility. He loves hiking, and has enjoyed
camping and other outings. Though has lived with several other dogs while
in foster care, Iri’s high energy level can be overwhelming for other dogs
in the home. Iri could live with a submissive female his own size
or larger given a proper slow introduction, however he would also be very
content in a home where he does not have to share his owner.
Iri has prey drive typical
of most Jindos and is not good with cats, small dogs, or other small animals.
Iri is protective of his home and will bark at any intruder until introduced.
Iri (pronounced "eerie")
means "Wolf" in Korean and fits his unusual dark agouti color.
