SeonHee or "Sunny" is a petite Jindo girl
that is being fostered by Jin-Sohl Jindo Dog Rescue, located in Southern
California.
Sunny is a sesame/grey female who currently
weighs 28 lbs and is about 20 inches at the shoulder. We estimate
her to be 10 months and so she may gain a few more pounds at maturity.
Because of her lightly built head and frame, it is also possible that she
may be a Jindo-Shiba mix. She was picked up by the Orange County
shelter as a stray and was unfortunately tucked away from the public due
to space issues. Once tucked away, she was presumed to be an aggressive
dog when that was not the case at all. She became labeled so that
only a rescue could save her from the shelter.
Sunny was pulled from the shelter in late
November, and after evaluation by two foster homes, she has never displayed
any worrisome behaviors. She is a model Jindo. We suspect that
she was an indoor dog in her previous life. She is house-trained
and seems to know house manners.
She is happy to see and greet introduced
people, but she will bark at abnormal activity as a Jindo should.
She is fine with handling all over her
body and being picked up. Recent nail-clippings and baths
were surprisingly uneventful.
Though untrained, she is very easy to walk
on-leash. She knows "sit" and is waiting for a permanent home to
teach her other commands.
She prefers exercise-pens as a means of
confinement but she is also fine with staying in a crate if she is guided
there, especially if there are chews inside.
She has been with other dogs in her foster
homes and has been okay with them as long she has not claimed any food
or bones on the ground. It seems that she used to bury bones in her
crate and so she will occassionally give a "snark" to a nearby dog while
in her crate even if she has no food or bones. She is not possessive
when a person is doling out small treats to multiple dogs, and she has
not shown any food possessiveness against people.
Treats?
Sunny has a bright gleeful personality
and it is a joy to just watch her run around the fenced yard.
She loves playing with squeak toys and will take turns sharing them with
other dogs in the home.
Playing
with a squeak toy
She will also do some gentle chasing and
wrestling with the other dogs in the home. With her close dog friends,
she runs, leaps, and paws while playing tag.
Turning
on a dime during play
She has not shown any interest in jumping
the fence or digging under the fence to escape, but she will dig out of
boredom in her outdoor kennel. She is very fast and agile and
so precautions would need to taken to ensure she does not door-bolt through
gates and doors.
Sunny
spotting some birds/ In prey mode
She has strong prey drive towards small
wild birds but she has been content to just watch fenced poultry that is
on the property. Chances are, though, that she would not be good
with other small animals.
Sunny is microchipped, fully vaccinated,
and spayed.
SeonHee means "good girl" in Korean, but
we like to call her Sunny as in Sunny Delight. Either name fits this
happy dog.
